About the Sheffield Business Awards
This year, there are thirteen awards categories. Entering the awards is simple and straightforward. Just register online to receive your login information by email. You can then use your username and password to access the online form. Simply choose the awards you wish to enter, and complete your application. There is also the facility to save your application at any point, should you wish to source further information, complete it in stages or edit it at any time, up to the applications deadline.
The 2008 awards categories:
The Wake Smith Manufacturing Award
In recognition of a manufacturing organisation showing evidence of significant improvement in productivity through the application of best practice in manufacturing management technique.
The Creative Sheffield "Sheffield Champion" Award
In recognition of a company or individual acting as an as an ambassador for the City of Sheffield and helping put it on the map with a product or service that is recognised as being developed or produced in the city of Sheffield.
The Sheffield Technology Parks Creative & Digital Industries Innovation Award
In recognition of a company in the Creative and Digital Industries sector that demonstrates innovation through the introduction of new technologies or the development of existing technologies in product or process development.
The Business Link Enterprise Award
This award will be won by a successful and outward looking new business, which has established its position within the marketplace through a mixture of sound business techniques, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurialism.
The Halliwells Excellence in International Trade Award
In recognition of a business that has successfully developed international markets, leading to performance improvements in sales, revenue, profitability, job creation and company profile.
The Excellence in Skills Award
In recognition of an organisation showing evidence of significant business improvement and success through the effective training and personal development of its workforce.
The Irwin Mitchell Excellence in Customer Service Award
In recognition of a company that demonstrates outstanding levels of customer service and satisfaction in all aspects of sales and after care services.
The Royal Mail Community Impact Award
In recognition of a business that has a successful approach to corporate social responsibility and can demonstrate a positive community impact.
The Wilbourne Associates Environmental Impact Award
In recognition of an organisation with a defined environmental policy, showing evidence of a commitment to, and achievement of, sound environmental good practice.
The HSBC Outstanding Business of the Year Award
This exceptional award will go to a business able to demonstrate outstanding leadership and vision, successful performance against business plan, forward plans for substantial growth and be an inspiration to other businesses. The winner from those shortlisted will be voted for by readers of The Star Business Monthly.
The Sheffield Hallam University Young Business Person of the Year Award
This new award is aimed at showcasing an individual between 16 and 30 years old who has demonstrated entrepreneurial flair and best practice in business and enterprise with a recognised product or service.
The Excellence in Retail Services Award
This award celebrates the range of retail providers in the City and will highlight an outstanding contributor to retail services through customer engagement or feature campaigns that impacted on sales activity.
The Rensburg Sheppards Business Person of the Year Award
This new award is designed to recognise a business man or woman who has made an outstanding contribution to the business performance of his or her organisation.
