Sheffield business awards gain record entries

Major international organisations to start-up businesses are among the record number of entries received for this year’s Sheffield Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
Almost 150 submissions have come into the Chamber since the 2009 awards, sponsored by Yorkshire Forward and Edge Telecom, were launched in September.
All the companies are vying to win an accolade from the 15 prestigious categories available, including new additions an Excellence in Sports Services award and the Healthy Business award.
Sheffield Chamber will announce the short-list of successful businesses on November 9, with the winners unveiled at the awards dinner on December 3 at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.
Angela Fairfax, events team leader at Sheffield Chamber, said: “We have had a terrific response from Sheffield companies. The business awards seem to attract more interest year on year and 2009 is on course to be the biggest and best so far.
“This year’s submissions are very impressive, especially coming on the back of a tough financial year. The judges will have their work cut out picking the best from so many fantastic submissions.”
Each of the categories will be judged by a representative from the award sponsor and a nominated independent adjudicator.
