Sheffield’s best in Business Awards shortlist The crème de la crème of Sheffield’s business community make up the shortlist for the tenth annual Sheffield Business Awards.
A total of 37 companies from sectors including engineering, recruitment and charitable have been announced as finalists in the 12 categories of the awards, which celebrate and reward the achievements of businesses throughout the Sheffield City Region.
This event, organised by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, will see more than a 1,000 people from the city region’s business community come together. The awards, sponsored by Elevation Recruitment, are recognised as one of the key strands by which Sheffield promotes and profiles itself and its businesses.
A number of high profile companies and organisations have been recognised in the awards, including ESCO HYDRA (UK) Ltd, who have been shortlisted for two accolades – the Wake Smith Excellence in Manufacturing Award and the P&A Receivables Excellence in International Trade Award.
A trio of high profile figures from the region make up the shortlist for the Lupton Fawcett Business Person of the Year Award:
James Hinchliffe, VOICE Group
Louisa Harrison-Walker, Benchmark Recruit
Roger Pearson, Sizer Ltd
Meanwhile, some of Sheffield’s up and coming entrepreneurs are shortlisted for the prestigious Benchmark Recruit Young Business Person of the Year honour.

Rebecca Watson - Total HR
Kate Senter, JCI Sheffield
Other organisations to have been shortlisted for prestigious accolades include Westfield Health, Ferndale Garden Centre, Stagecoach Group Bond Bryan Architects Limited and Brinsworth Academy of Engineering.
The prestigious Sheffield Chamber of Commerce & Industry Outstanding Business of the Year Award will be won by one of the shortlisted companies.
Kate Stephenson, events manager at Sheffield Chamber, said: “Interest in this year’s event has been unprecedented and, as we celebrate the tenth anniversary of the awards, we have witnessed our highest number of entries to date. “Submissions have come in from a blend of major international organisations to start-up businesses and the shortlist really highlights the diversity of the organisations we have in the region. We are really excited about celebrating business successes on the night.”
A host of big names will also be making a guest appearance at the ceremony, after it was announced that Jon Culshaw will return as host for the evening. Jon, one of the country’s top impressionists, will once again entertain 1,000 guests after proving to be a big hit in previous years. The comedian, currently starring in BBC One’s The Impressions Show alongside Deborah Stephenson, will also be on hand to present lucky winners with their awards.
